Psychoacoustics is a five-piece band rooted in connection, craft, and authenticity. Cole DeBriyn is the lead singer, lyricist, background vocalist, and song writer whose voice and storytelling gives an emotional touch to each lyric and song. Jesse Pierce drives the heartbeat of every track as drummer, background vocalist, and drum composer. Jason Petty anchors the sound as lead bassist and bass composer, adding groove and precision while also adding background vocals. On piano, Ching Mong layers texture and atmosphere, composing intricate piano arrangements with his music/piano degree from the University of Arkansas that elevates the band’s sonic identity as well as adding background vocals. Matt Hickman brings depth and edge as lead electric guitarist, guitar composer, audio engineer, and background vocalist.
Cole, Matt, Jesse, and Ching all grew up together in Fayetteville, Arkansas, sharing not only a hometown but a creative chemistry that has evolved over years of collaboration. Jason Petty, a native of El Dorado, Arkansas, may not have shared the same upbringing as the other four members, but the bond he’s built with them is deeply rooted in a connection that feels like it’s always been there.
Psychoacoustics thrives on creating music with intention. Writing songs that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant. Committed to using real instruments rather than computer-generated sound, the band focuses on craftsmanship and authenticity, aiming to create music that is purposeful, organic, and timeless

Cole DeBriyn is the band’s lyricist, melody writer, songwriter, backup vocalist and lead vocalist. Her first stage was at her church as a child, where her love for music began. She spent her early years singing along to her parents’ records in her bedroom, dreaming of one day performing her own songs. Throughout school, she immersed herself in choirs, show choir, and musical theater, sharpening both her voice and her presence on stage.
After high school, Cole chose to start a family and focused on raising her four children, pouring her creativity and passion into her them while placing her own musical ambitions on hold. Now, with her children grown and beginning families of their own, she has fully returned to her artistry with renewed purpose and clarity.
Cole’s songwriting is deeply shaped by a life marked by both challenges and resilience. Her lyrics are known for their honesty, at times cautionary, and are often boldly unfiltered. Through her music, she not only seeks to inspire others but also channels it as a powerful source of personal strength and expression.

Jason is the bassist, backup vocalist, and the low-end architect behind the psycho Acoustic sound. Hailing from South Arkansas. He did everything he could to get the hell out of the state after high school. That restlessness led to a career spanning odyssey across the US as an industry warrior in manufacturing and warehousing. After years of grinding through corporate machinery, he realized Northwest Arkansas is a real hidden gem. Now he’s back for good, louder than ever, and life-questing to master the Way of Bass. He started his musical journey in the 6th grade on brass instruments. That discipline continued through college, but true enlightenment hit at age 21 when he was gifted two sacred relics from his older brother: a beat-up bass and old amp. He was gigging by 22 and hasn’t set the instrument down since. Jason has distilled elements from his classical training, classic rock, punk, new wave, metal, country, and a short delve into bluegrass to carve his sonic identity. For him, the journey has no ceiling, and Jason walks the path of Bass Dao. The Way of the Low-End. A lethal soundscape forged in the raw pit of his soul and unleashed with the serene focus of a man cultivating the spirit of rhythm and groove.

A proud local since 1979, Ching has always been passionate about music in all its forms. His musical journey began at the age of ten when he started taking piano lessons and received formal classical training that continued through college. After graduation, life led him away from playing music for more than two decades, but during a particularly challenging period, he rediscovered the instrument and the joy it brought him. While returning to the highly technical classical pieces of his youth proved difficult, he found a new appreciation for playing rock and pop songs by ear. That creative freedom eventually inspired him to begin writing his own music. Joining forces with his future bandmates was a chance encounter born from a difficult circumstance, but what emerged from that moment was an incredible musical collaboration and the formation of a band that continues to grow and thrive. Today, Ching brings his experience, creativity, and lifelong love of music to every performance and composition.
